About

Who are we?

Serving our community

My name is Andy Chand, and I am the proud founder of the Canadian Empowered Women of Fiji Foundation (CEWFF), established alongside Mehazafin Chand and Anita Reddy.

From the beginning, our shared vision has been simple: to serve our community, support people in need, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Our journey began in 2018, through small fundraising initiatives, volunteer activities, and community programs supporting people in our local communities. Over the years, our commitment continued to grow as we saw firsthand the difference that individuals working together can make.

In November 2021, we formally registered CEWFF as an organization. That same month, British Columbia experienced devastating floods caused by excessive rainfall throughout Southwest BC.

Seeing families lose their homes, belongings, and basic necessities deeply affected us. We wanted to do something meaningful to help. Our immediate goal was to raise funds for people affected by the floods and help provide them with basic necessities as they worked to get back on their feet. That first major fundraising initiative became the beginning of what has grown into an ongoing commitment to charitable service.

As of January 1, 2026, CEWFF is officially a registered Canadian charity, recognized by the Government of Canada.

Our Community Service

Over the years, our collective team has participated in and supported numerous community initiatives, including:

  • Volunteering with the Surrey RCMP
  • Supporting the Fiji Disaster Relief Society
  • Participating in Local radio stations community food drives and fundraising initiatives
  • Distributing grocery hampers to individuals and families in need in 2019 and 2020
  • Working with local community partners to raise funds for people and families facing hardship
  • Participating in Kiean’s Toy Drive
  • Supporting children and families through charitable fundraising
  • Supporting cancer research and patient care
  • Supporting humanitarian and disaster-relief initiatives
  • Supporting food-security programs and vulnerable members of our community
  • Donating 210 toys to children and families in December 2022
  • Donating 210 toys to children and families in December 2023
  • Donating 215 toys to children and families in December 2024

Our philosophy has always been straightforward:
When our community needs help, we should do whatever we can to be there.

How do we raise money?
CEWFF raises funds by connecting with community members through various media platforms, fundraising campaigns, community events, food drives, and direct outreach.

We believe that everyone has the ability to make a difference. Sometimes that contribution is financial, while other times it is volunteering, donating food or toys, sharing a fundraising campaign, or simply encouraging someone else to help.

Every contribution matters.

How are funds distributed?

Funds raised through our campaigns are directed toward the charitable organization or cause identified for each initiative.

Our fundraising efforts have supported organizations and causes focused on disaster relief, humanitarian assistance, children’s health, cancer research and patient care, cardiovascular health, kidney care, food security, and other important community needs.

We are proud to work alongside established charitable organizations and community partners to ensure that our fundraising efforts have a meaningful impact.

More Than Fundraising

For us, community service is about much more than raising money.

Behind every donation is a person, a family, or a community that needs support.

It could be a family affected by a natural disaster, a child receiving medical care, a patient battling cancer, someone struggling with food insecurity, or a community facing hardship.

Our goal is to help turn the generosity of our community into meaningful support for those who need it most.

We are incredibly grateful to every donor, volunteer, community organization, business, media partner, and supporter who has stood alongside CEWFF.

None of this would be possible without our community.

Looking Forward

What began with a desire to help families affected by the devastating BC floods in 2021 has grown into a continuing commitment to community service.

Through the leadership of Andy Chand, Mehazafin Chand, and Anita Reddy, CEWFF continues to build relationships, organize fundraising initiatives, support charitable organizations, and encourage people to give back.
Our work continues to be guided by three simple principles:

Serve. Support. Empower.

We believe that when people come together with compassion and a willingness to help, even a small contribution can create a lasting impact.

Our commitment is to continue serving our communities, supporting those in need, empowering people to make a difference, and building a stronger and more compassionate community for generations to come.

Thank you for being part of the CEWFF journey.

Together, we can make a difference.

“THE DIFFERENCE YOU MAKE ; MAKES THE DIFFERENCE “
